Since 1960
Roto-Rooter Plumbers (originally known as Roto-Rooter Sewer and Drain Cleaning Service) was brought to Wichita, KS by Cary R. Alexander in 1936. It was purchased by Paul and Wanda Farmer in 1960 and continues to operate as a family-owned business. Paul and Wanda Farmer were already active owners of a ditching business they started in 1947, known as Farmer, Harter & Farmer, but phased this business out in 1964 due to the growth of the drain-cleaning business. The Farmers also operated an underground sprinkler system service but later phased this business out in the late 1980's to dedicate full resources to the Roto-Rooter business. Shortly after the unexpected death of her husband in November 1992, Wanda Farmer incorporated her business enterprise as P&W, Inc. dba Roto-Rooter Plumbers. She continues to run the business as President and Chief Executive Officer.
